Matthew Beaumont is a Professor of English at University College London and the author of several books, including most recently The Walker: On Finding and Losing Yourself in the Modern City (2020) and Lev Shestov: Philosopher of the Sleepless Night (2020). He is the co-author of The Task of the Critic: Terry Eagleton in Dialogue (2009) and the editor of Adventures in Realism (2007) and Restless Cities (2010), among other collections. He is also a Co-Director of UCL's Urban Lab. He is currently writing a book about the history of literature in London.
